heatherheartsANDROGYNY

Girls dress like boys, boys dress like girls, androgyny is fashion with no boundaries, and without a doubt one of my all-time favourite ways of dressing.

Best monochromatic look ever. (can't seem to track down where this picture is from because I saved it a while ago but if anyone knows please let me know!)

And then there's me. Some might say that the amount of skin showing cancels this out as an 'androgynous' look but I never like to dress in one specific style head to toe, and androgyny is no exception. I think the bare midriff is a good way of countering the boyishness of the look without actually adding something girly. Anyways it is too hot today to not have your midriff showing. (...it is never too hot for Docs though ;) )

(totally loving my ombre hair)

and some fur for good measure..

Fashion Weeks Highlights

After examining the fall 11 shows I've come up with my 3 favourite trends: sheers, androgyny, and fur.

So a lot of designers have been playing with a lot of sheers lately, going past the typical sheer blouse. Everything from skirts, to pants, to evening gowns are being done in sheer. If it's done right be can look classy, just make sure you're wearing the right underwear!

Holly Fulton showed a printed version.

Christian Dior went all out with a full length gown.

Chanel took a layered approach which really worked. I'm always surprised by how Karl can come up with such fresh ideas while still keeping very much within the Chanel aesthetic.

Louis Vuitton

From menswear inspired pieces have to full-out androgynous outfits, manly is in.  I love the look especially when it is injected with some good preppyness and strong shots of colour.

Okay, I could have done without the stars and treble clefs but I really like a lot of the collection. Tailoring was amazing and socks-and-shoes combos outstanding.

FUR- I'm no animal rights activist but I do feel bad for liking this trend so much.. but there is much better looking fake furs these days so I don't even know whether these furs are real or not. That being said, there is not denying that fur is fashion and this season it comes in every type and used it every way you could think of. It's definitely not just about the full length mink coat anymore.
